Healthy Bangladesh Journey Launched in Khulna | The Legal Doors
Why the Healthy Bangladesh Journey Khulna Initiative Matters
The inauguration ceremony of the Healthy Bangladesh Journey Khulna initiative was held at the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Organized by the non-governmental development organization SEIAM, the event was conducted under the inspiring slogan, “For the Next Generation and in Hope of a Healthy Nation on Two Wheels.”
The chief guest of this monumental event was Mr. Md. Firoz Sarker, Honorable Divisional Commissioner of Khulna. The event was gracefully presided over by Mr. Md. Toufiqur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Khulna, with Mr. Saifuddin Ahmed, Coordinator of the Bangladesh Anti-Tobacco Alliance, attending as the special guest.
Moderated by Advocate Md. Masum Billah, Executive Director of SEIAM, the program saw participation from vital stakeholders. Among those present were Asif Ahmed, Program Officer of the World Health Organization (WHO); Mahfuzur Rahman Mukul, Khulna Divisional Coordinator of BELA; Advocate Shamima Sultana Shilu, Executive Director of MASAS; Journalist Mahbubur Rahman Munna, General Secretary of the Khulna Metropolitan Unit of the Nirapad Sarak Chai Movement; and Abu Taher, General Secretary of Amra Brihattor Khulnabashi, along with officials and staff from various government and non-government organizations.
It is noteworthy that five dedicated volunteers from SEIAM will conduct a rigorous cross-country cycling campaign from Banglabandha (Panchagarh) to Inani (Cox’s Bazar). The campaign will heavily promote several urgent national demands. These include the establishment of a Health Promotion Foundation in Bangladesh, the effective and strict implementation of tobacco control laws, the transition to carbon-free transportation, the promotion of healthy food consumption, and the essential protection of fields, parks, and vital water bodies.
To ensure a sustainable future, local authorities are demonstrating their strict commitment to public health and safety through this program. Organizers strongly hope that citizens across the region will actively participate in the upcoming health camps, medical seminars, and community fitness guidelines that will be rolled out in the coming months as part of this ongoing, nationwide campaign.
